Steve, when optical line of sights work, they are wonderful. When they don't it could be disastrous. An extremely good use saving tons of money for Optical LOS links has been to support backup links for single spur (unringed) dark fiber builds to buildings. The statistical probability of all three, a fiber link and a ticker tape parade happening at the same time that the optical link fails (outside of NY) is nil. FWIW, Frank Coluccio
