News of 5fer:

Back in the high-tech saddle: Just three months after being ousted as chief executive of Compaq Computer Corp., Eckhard Pfeiffer is on the move. Now he says he's evaluating opportunities to become a venture capitalist, a consultant or return to the corporate world as a chief executive or director. Having started his high-tech career at Texas Instruments Inc. in the early days of the semiconductor business, then switching to Compaq as PCs were starting their rise, Mr. Pfeiffer says, "Looking back at my career, I've made the right decisions at the right time."
