Palo Alto, since you have a few years under your belt, I have two questions which may also be helpful to others. First, I can appreciate referencing the direction of the S&P futures before entering a trade if the trend is in doubt. How and where can I obtain real-time data on the S&P futures? Currently, I am working with a simple system of streaming quotes from Datek, and IQ Charts Java program for real-time charts. Second, as a fairly new trader I am experiencing what is probably a typical problem in deciding which time-frame to center on for trading. I began with 1 minute charts, and have done quite well. However, the 15 minute charts certainly seem to be more efficient for technical analysis. Of course the problem is, when trading with a 15-minute chart, one is aware of the underlying movement on a real-time basis, and it makes for some real moments of hard decision when the ticks are moving against you, but the chart is screaming "stay with me". Any thoughts on this time-frame-displacement subject? Others who have faced down the same problem are certainly invited to respond. And thanks for helping to hold up a great thread. |
