Scott, I understand your much more technologically educated than I am but I have some questions: I think a 3-4 year lead is insurmountable if Real stays on the eight ball. What makes you think otherwise.....You are correct that what truly matters is the formats which the streams are created in. As a broadcaster, since real has such a lead in market share, why would any broadcaster not stream in their format, eliminating nearly all the potential viewers. I have to believe many folks are like me and don't want 3,4 5 whatever number of players on their hard drive when you can get by quite well with the right one or two...Unless Real blows it, I don't see anyone ever getting more than a fifth of their share for several years. Apple has already shown that its not all about the best technology, but the ability to market it right and make it the standard. here again this is for Real to loose. I suspect that where Apple will be very strong is in a narrow niche market where as Real will be the dominant format/player for some time to come. Don't forget,real has agreements with athm,and web tv and liberate for the cable entry. No one else has this level of penetration Any thoughts are welcome.
