The Marx Brothers: Groucho, Chico, Harpo, Zeppo, Gummo....Gummo left the act early, and became an agent, he and Zeppo were both straightmen....Did you know that Harpo was the oldest one, and that when they made their first movie they were already successful Broadway stars?...Interestingly, Harpo, who could really speak, of course, was a friend of several of the members of the Algonquin Round Table (George Kauffman, Alexander Woolcott, and SJ Perelman for three), and Groucho carried on a correspondence in the early '60s with TS Eliot, who was a fan of their movies.... |
