I have a couple of terrific books that spell out the cost of different remodeling jobs, one for interiors and one for exteriors. For example, the interior one has stuff like the estimated cost of completely remodeling a kitchen with low-end, middle, and high-end stuff like cabinets, counters and appliances, as well as whether it's a straight-line, l-shaped or u-shaped kitchen. The cost of a new hardwood floor. The cost of a new door or window. Stuff like that. And I also have a book on construction estimating, but that's a lot harder to use - more accurate, though.
