Bob-- Nasty, nasty. But really, how can you expect me to place much faith in your own credentials when you don't even know what this stuff is *called? Now for a little reading lesson: I said* that not all 28.8 modems are software upgradable, didn't I? Listen carefully: *ALL USR MODEMS CURRENTLY ON SALE ARE SOFTWARE UPGRADABLE TO X2. ROK is--as you should know--having chip problems, but says this will be taken care of soon. (Robot partisans hope it won't be too* soon, but I shouldn't think there's anybody out there buying non-upgradable modems of any kind, unless they really need to save their pennies.) So I'm afraid I don't take your point. Janice
