Mr. Jim Perry reports
The company has shipped its 1,000th A20 military personnel heater to the U.S.
Army. An official from the Army's Tank-Automotive Armaments Command
(TACOM) attended the ceremony today to mark this significant achievement at
Global's manufacturing plant in Bassano, Alberta.
"Shipping the 1,000th A20 heater to TACOM is an important milestone for
Global," said Daryl Marling, manager of the heaters division. "TACOM has shown
solid support for our heater technology and development programs. By ramping
up production to the current level, we have demonstrated our capability to supply
TACOM's requirements now and in the future".
In the existing contract with TACOM, Global has 3,000 A20 heaters remaining,
including 1,137 on order and an option for 1,863 more. In addition, the contract
has been extended to explore the application of Global's advanced technology to
heating of heavy military trucks. As Global's A20 is now a standard item in the
defense supply system, the company's heater marketing group is developing
relations with the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency to facilitate supply of
the new A20 global heater to European forces.
