OT Thanks DS. We've suffered a long time waiting for SNDK to mature, looks like it is now. As to the future, well, as long as their patents hold up in court (there is an ongoing test that should come down in their favor sometime next month, I hope), and as long as no one comes up with a way to make flash without depending on one or another of their many patents, they should do well, even given the remarkable recent run that they have had. Though, caveat emptor, I am not running out to buy any more tomorrow. Its had too big a run too fast (though I said the same thing yesterday and last week as well!). But they are in the center of at least 3 huge markets that are unfolding: MP3, digital cameras and cell phones. They make their storage, their film, their memory. Any portable device that needs nonvolatile memory can use flash, and eventually, it will be the cheapest form of memory. SNDK is still wringing cost out of their manufacturing process, and is bringing new capacity on line as we speak, as well as getting a nickel every time Hitachi, Samsung, Toshiba, et al sell flash, thanks to their licensing agreements. I could go on, but go to the thread. There's a lot of mania today, but it usually isn't so cheerleading, they're just celebrating today. The stock stock collapsed to 5 and change during the selloff last October, and many of the people posting today were there then. So they deserve it. Ausdauer has posted some detailed cxommentary on the stock on the gorilla thread, I can get you the link if you want.
All my opinion, obviously. Best wishes, Sam |
