thank you for the article and your web site. My feeling about the government involvement is that the effort is worthy but, "you can lead a horse to the water, but you can,t make him drink". The barriers to be overcome are still with us. To make a product acceptable to the average user it must be; reasonably priced, easy to use, dependable, user friendly, aesthetically attractive, and readily understood. Fuel cells have some of these attributes, except for delivery of fuel and understanding the concept. It also may be difficult to wean auto buyers away from the 'Vroom-Vroom' signifying horsepower. There is no doubt in my mind that with our modern ingenuity that there will eventually be delivery for a fuel source adapted, that will be both safe and economical. When all the pieces are fitted together, then there will be a rapid conversion from combustive power to fuel cells. The DCHT site was interesting. I was aware of this from your posting on the Ballard board. It seems entirely possible that small appliances should be the first wave of universal fuel cell use. I have a stock position in MCOM. That would be a perfect marriage when both are fully operative. |
