Thanks for the moral support, Mikesloan.
I do not find pleasure in the fact that, after I posted this article from the Newsalert page Friday morning, the stock market panicked and Bre-X lost over $400 million in market value. Most of that loss came from the pockets of small investors.
Turk and I had already started discussing it, and given that, I thought the best thing to do was go ahead and post it so people could see exactly what we were discussing. It was potentially very serious, and I thought people had the right to know. Prior to posting, I also sent copies to Bre-X's e-mail addresses (both) so they would know what was about to hit them. Rather than let this thing simmer in the background, generating fear, I hoped that, by posting the actual article and then discussing it, we could get this vicious rumor about there being no gold quelled ASAP with a healthy dose of anaysis from this thread and, more importantly, FACTS, both of which we now have.
The last thing on earth I want to do is trash this company, its management or its stock, and I deeply regret it if what I did contributed to the panic that took place on Friday. For the record, I think the gold is there, and I do not think Bre-X has done anything wrong. They certainly do not merit the inuendos and insinuations that have been flying around on this thread. |
