Globalstar offers only a narrowband service. The large data file
transfer market is/will be addressed by Cyberstar, Astrolink
... For interactive data by satellite, you will have to wait
for Skybridge (ALA venture) or Teledesic, but at this stage
Teledesic looks very shaky.

In general, wireless communications by satellite should be viewed
as an ''add-on'' to standard wireless service. IRID has a
high cost structure and made the mistake of attempting to market
the service directly to customers. GSTRF markets its service
through its partners such as VOD/Airtouch ... It has also a
much lower cost structure than IRID.
