I agree that, if it works, the Vaxgen AIDS vaccine would be a godsend. I sincerely hope it does.

How would you feel if on the VXGN thread you were inundated with people asking for help in how to use italics in their posts? Or perhaps a few dozen people decided to write about other drugs that treat cancer and heart disease. Surely you don't think those ailments are any less deserving?

The point is, many of the same people you are calling "sanctimonious" would be the first to come to your aid to get the VXGN thread back on topic. Think hegemony not acrimony (g).
