And in these modern days there are fictitious faxes:

"This was no accident," claimed an anonymous source. "It was those guys with Sonoma County Online. They'll do anything to get attention. Last month they sent out a Fax claiming that Sonoma County Online was purchased by the New York Times."

A check of sources at the Press Democrat, owned by the Times, revealed the distribution of the ficticious Fax to be true. They remembered the incident well. The publisher was overheard saying, "we are not amused." As of yet no charges regarding these apparently ficticious claims have been filed against Sonoma County Online. Neither "Tom" or "Bob," if indeed those are their real names, were available for comment, nor had they responded to email inquiries at press time.
