The points you make I think are good ones. CPQ certainly has a channel partner problem when going direct. Inherently it may impossible to have a direct business and have retail channel partners. A CPQ/GTW merger would allow for the possibility of CPQ eliminating the channel partners altogether. A pretty dramatic step no doubt, but that may be what CPQ has to do. On trimming...it might enable them to "trim" the CPQ side rather than the GTW side...another plus for Waite becoming CEO of a merged company. It seems like a it would have to be a stock swap and merger rather than a cash acquisition. Though it seems like CPQ needs GTW more than GTW needs CPQ.

Just some thoughts, not a prediction.
