The ruling technically applies only to Wit, but it should affect practices at other online securities firms that dole out IPOs, experts said The writer agrees with me. The letter only approves Wit's procedures. Other firms are likely to follow them, but they are not protected against SEC action like Wit is. I suspect FBG will file for a no-action letter of their own soon. mod
