Friday July 16, 7:40 am Eastern TimeAmong corporate features, razor blades maker Gillette (NYSE:G - news) reported earnings after the market closed on Thursday, in line with recently reduced analyst forecasts.

Seagate Technologies (NYSE:SEG - news) the world's top maker of computer disk-drives, also late on Thursday reported lower-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter earnings and added it expected to make a loss in the current quarter.

Dealers at brokerage Instinet said the stock had traded at $29, one dollar below the close in New York, on their electronic system.

Cyprus Amax Minerals Co. (NYSE:CYM - news) and Asarco Inc (NYSE:AR - news) announced a merger to create the world's largest publicly traded copper company. The stocks had not traded in London, but in Frankfurt Cyprus was down around $5/16 at $14-1/4 while Asarco also eased around $3/8 at $18-7/8.

Another possible focus was Texas Instruments, which rose in moderate after-hours trading after the Dallas-based chip maker declared a two-for-one stock split.

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer (NYSE:PFE - news) was due to report earnings later in the day.
