ECI Telecom to Supply National Telecommunications Backbone Network
to Onse Telecom, Korea; Contract Value: US $ 3.5 million

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 1999--ECI Telecom Ltd. (NASDAQ/NM symbol: ECIL) announced today an order to supply an SDH backbone network to ONSE Telecom, one of Korea's fastest growing service providers.
The contract, valued at $US 3.5 million, was signed during ECI Telecom's Annual Technical and Planning Symposium which is being held in Toronto, Canada.
Commenting on the new agreement, Mr. Chung Huh, Executive Vice President of Engineering Group, ONSE Telecom, said: " We consider ECI Telecom to be a strategic partner in the development of our telecommunications infrastructure and services."

ECI Telecom's SDH solutions will be deployed in a fully redundant multi-ring topology which covers the region between Seoul and Pusan. The new network will enable ONSE Telecom to deliver a broad range of quality services to its customers including voice, data, Internet and video. ECI Telecom's SDH solutions will additionally enable ONSE Telecom to expand its services and capacity for future needs. ECI Telecom's sophisticated eNM management
solutions will centrally monitor and manage the entire backbone network.
The awarding of the contract follows the successful implementation of ECI Telecom's SDH solutions for ONSE's international gateways.
The new network is expected to be fully operational by the end of Q3 1999.
