I pay a high price on CSCO that is why I want to tell people on INTC thread not to make the same mistake. Long term investors often in denial when their stocks start to fall apart - they would try to find all sorts of reasons to defend the continuous holdings - I did that on CSCO. Once a stock breaks down, long term investors were at shock and unable to react logically, and often miss the short windows to get out. It is too late for me to sell CSCO now, I would sit thru the rough time, probably like 1994, or like semi/semi equip gone thru their mini bear market of 18 months ...

Best way to do is to short against box if you dont want to sell shares. covered calls have all the drawback you mentioned.
