ASND/CSCC succeeded in the absence of CSCO. It's been only the past 18 months that Cisco has really gotten serious about the carrier space. As for the battle to 1) complete product and 2) win carriers. Again, I point to the fact that Cisco is late - not out of the game and has shown an uncanny ability to win - even when late. As for winning carrier business - do you really think JNPR, an unbelievably strong and impressive start-up has a better shot at it than CSCO? I suspect that this battle is even at best but more likely in CSCO's favor once they bring a product to the market....and THAT is THE real issue. JNPR has a lead, the question will be, can they capatalize and solidify a dominant market position. OG
