Hello Dr. Epstein: GUMM
It is my understanding colds last 3-5 days. 2 weeks is atypical in my experience. If GUMM's hypothesis is relief in 1-3 days, there will be measurable 'relief', semantically. That zinc is expected and therefore being tested in for common allergic symptoms, that is, an antihistamine, that strikes me as specious. The taint to GUMM is their used of semantics and sophistry. Reading one of their press releases for the first time triggered my crap detector. I would like to see mentholated saline tested, too, spiked with and without a little ionic zinc. I imagine the relief would be quicker and much cheaper to formulate. Without the zinc and without claims of curing, it is a simple wetting and relief solution available in mass discounters such as Walmart, KMart, etc.
Regards,
m
