My brother is an engine specialist for Chevrolet nationwide, so I have been following this fairly closely. He is not going to be happy. Sulpher clogs up the catalytic converters, causing problems meeting emissions requirements. There have been some major problems with gasoline in CA in the past, and this will probably be another problem.

Automakers REALLY want the sulpher gone from ALL gas. Available technology can virtually eliminate engine emissions, but the sulpher has to be out of the gasoline for the technology to work.
It's interesting to see the auto industry allying with the environmental groups to go against the refining industry. My personal opinion is remove the sulpher - breathing is my all time favorite hobby.
