Chaps,

Most of the drop appears due to problems that WPI are having with
the FDA. Apparently there is some sort of quality control problem
affecting some process/products at one of their plants. It is
difficult to assess the scope of the problems, but the shorts are
having a field day and the very active Yahoo! thread is rife with
folks trying to talk down the stock. A further problem is that the
CEO has stomach cancer. It is not clear how serious either of these
issues really is, though the company stated recently that it expects
to meet earnings targets. However, in the absence of hard news you
can imagine the paranoia!

Apparently Bloomberg carried the most recent story, which is reproduced at -
messages.yahoo.com

I personally believe that the problems are over-exaggerated, and took
a position recently. I think this is a great little company and
is currently available at a good price. If we get down towards the
$30 level I intend to load up (in the absence of any negative hard news).

Best wishes

Mark
