Hi Morgan, I missed all the action today. If i had known that MSFT verdict was out in the afternoon---i would have even added some more shares. IMHO, the Bristol decision creates a sentiment shift to positive on MSFT. It paves the way for 105 by sometime Monday. This case showed that juries won't be biased against MSFT just because Bill Gates is the richest man in the world or MSFT is a big bully. On a short term basis, the ceiling on this stock (100 today) will be blown away on Monday. It will scare the "shorts" to avoid it for a while. It will have to do less with the earnings anticipation and more with the Bristol decision. Everyone knew about earnings potential long ago but they were very uncertain about the legal fronts. I would even say that some would have been expecting MSFT to lose just because they did not have confidence in MSFT's ability to defend a case no matter how strong it was. This case does a lot more than meets the eye. I would be even willing to say that it could even help result in a deal with the DOJ soon. It is about emotions, strangely. Everybody loves a winner. Add to that the fact that MSFT wins in front of a jury. Future lawsuits are likely to be tried by a jury. I bet Caldera is already sweating and thinking about striking a deal or risk not getting anything----and I think MSFT will settle with them on reasonable terms. Even the DOJ/States may fear lack of public support for their actions and want to avoid this. I think every American should be proud that MSFT would rank as the 9th biggest economy in the world if it was a country. So why would States Attorney's and DOJ officials not want to be Microsoft's friend. That will make the DOJ/States very nervous. Today's move was primarily due to MSN tracking stock. We will the real action from the Bristol case on Monday.
