;-( be carefull of cable........ The "throughput" is the true speed. ADSL is 10 times faster. The second definition of speed (for us ) is the pipe size to the US. I hear sympatico's is many times larger than cable. Cable is shared...when the kids on the block get home -down goes the "access" speed and the throughput speed. You are technically on a subdivision LAN- others could see your hard drive. It is modulated- others could adjust their unit to be in parrallel with you , and will see everything you do-including e-mail. The cable price includes 6 months free modem -$15 per month after the sixth month :-( ADSL is free for life to new subscribers. ADSL has ISP partners , if yours is one of them you can go with them and keep your e-mail address. I have done a 20 meg download same time same site- ADSL was 10 times faster than Mr Rogers. JMHO scouser
