Irwin said the MSM5000 would contain a couple of DSPs, which are digital signal processors, which do electronic wizardry which has usually been done in a separate ASIC. Q! is combining most of the chip stuff into a single ASIC. It makes it faster, cheaper, more efficient, more functional, smaller.

Somebody else will need to say exactly what the DSP does, but I guess it collects the signal from the aerial system, converts it to the right sort of electronics and passes it on for further processing.

The MSM5000 is the basis for HDR, cdma2000 progression and should be commercially ready later this year.
