>> I say as I run for cover<<

Yup! Windows is screwed up today...

Same thing happened with my lawnmower yesterday. Thinking how I got several mowings in without having to fix something. Wasn't more than a few minutes before it started cutting out. I pushed it onto the pavement and shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes thinking I really need to buy a new one I can't deal with this anymore. That must have been the trick. I started it and finished the job no complaints.

Or my car two winters ago. Had been running great for a LONG time. Started thinking about it. The very same day the battery went dead (en-route). I knew it was on its way out so I was carrying a spare in my trunk (ex-junk men do these kinds of things). The spare had the terminals backwards so I couldn't just install it. I had to set it somewhere under my hood and jumper it to the dead battery. So far so good. Laid the excess jumper cable on top of the motor and set the hood down without latching it, started up and drove for home. Went down a hill and under a RR overpass. That's when the hood flew up, breaking my windshield AND my wiper mechanism. Ended up replacing those, my battery, alternator and starter. Then I loaned my car to a "friend" (actually, loaning equipment is a whole other category of asking for it) who promptly overheated it by driving too fast (which he almost tried to deny. My car has a semi-loud exhaust and I can hear the rpm's several blocks away when he thinks he's out of sight. Plus, I KNOW the guy.) Which caused the heater core to blow out. Obviously you're wondering what year is this old sled I'm driving. I'll just say that it's several years past the time when you see a lot of 'em in the junkyard.

It works the same way with stocks. When you hear a lot of gloating on a thread it's a good time to sell.

Takes a lot of mental restraint to keep things running right.
