I don't dispute your comments but as an individual investor who trades options and short term positions, even next month's options, I did not appreciate their changeover on such a volatile day. I was very upset that the site was down to begin the day and customer support couldn't even give an estimated time the servers would be available! I do commend them on getting the site up about 15 minutes before the bell but that's too close! And then, the site was slow to respond all day which personally cost me several thousand dollars on their slow executions.

The good thing about their decision is it has reinforced to me that I need to set up another account at another broker. E*Trade is a great broker for buy and hold money but terrible for short term positions.
