Thanks Maurice! If only I were up to speed...

[Ed: and this was a VERY weird feeling, having just asked a question, to have Irwin looking down the camera straight at me, answering the thing, with Perry La Forge having just used my name and recognized it from 'the internet', at 6am in the morning having been awake since 4.30am, while I'm at the puter, which is normally a dark-cave and private experience. It made me realize how powerful this WWeb stuff will be when it is in full bloom. Imagine you will be able to chat with your buddies, Mum, girlfriend or, yes, he'll be there too, BOSS! wherever you are. It will feel VERY immediate. It will sell billions. It is NOT a technology looking for a market.]

Weird it must feel. Reminds me of childhood sci-fi dreams that seemed an eternity away if not altogether totally unlikely. Am I going to have to start shaving again?

But how much demand will there be for full on sound/video in a truly mobile environment, especially if Big Phat Sport Utililty Bandwidth Hogging Remote Terminals are going to have to pay for premium Gazoline? Sounds like everyone thinks voice and text will continue to dominate truly mobile apps, and that folks at G* are very, very positive that there's plenty of demand if constellation 2 is also intended mainly for voice.

Bluetooth and other local area wireless access technologies will end up being EXTREMELY important if we're going to have enough bandwidth at a reasonable cost for all this stuff.

Hopefully the Babble on this thread IS NOT an indication of where we're headed when we've all got ubiquitous access.
