hey wily,

"Yup! Windows is screwed up today..."

i continue to be pretty amazed by the whole thing. i think windows is fantastic. i hear lots of complaints, and i'm not saying any of 'em are necessarily wrong...

your "few years past the junkyard" story was good, wily. brought to mind how i used to patch holes on my tailpipe with beer cans. cut the ends off, snipped up the side so as to have a flat sheet of aluminum, then wrapped that around the holes and fastened with big hose clamps. always bought me extra time for the exhaust system.

hey, lest someone think this post is OT, let me say... this was before the days of onboard computers.

"Takes a lot of mental restraint to keep things running right."

amen. there's a beauty to orderliness of functionality. <g3> back before i was able to keep my system stable, my computing was comprised of a lot of "don't go like that" behaviors. (from the old henny youngman joke... guy goes to his doctor, holds his arm out to his side and swings it from side to side and says to the doc, "it hurts when i go like this". and the doc says, "don't go like that no more!".) now, however, after i fix a prob, rather than avoiding whatever it was that caused the crash, etc, i "go like that" all over again just to make sure that it's okay. lots to be said for the satisfaction of being able to "go like that" if i want to.

:)
