Readers of this board might be interested in reading your very interesting July 15th post to the Register which states "moreover, the newly national Voicestream is a hot take-over candidate for the European giant operators, as well as to MCI Worldcom and possibly Bellsouth. None of the other US operators holds the same acquisition appeal to European operators, which are the most likely aggressors in the next round of consolidation."

I do have five questions regarding your comments about "the stampede to develop US/Europe mobile handsets relying on integration of GSM-900, GSM-1900, TDMA-1900 and AMPS technologies" and "bundling GSM with CDMA can only be achieved with substantial weight and performance trade-offs."
* Will all of the GSM-900, GSM-1900, TDMA-1900, AMPS phones being introduced near term incorporate a SIM?
* Is their any near term movement to bring to market a GSM, CDMA handset?
* As a practical matter (for the US) wouldn't such a handset need to incorporate AMPS?
* Would such a handset necessitate a SIM or UIM?
* Have you expanded in any of your columns or posts or columns on why a GSM, CDMA handset "can only be achieved with substantial weight and performance trade-offs." and if so could you point me to the proper reference. If not perhaps this could be a subject for a future column.
That's a lot of questions, I realize, but I'm hopeful you have the time to respond and Thanks in advance.
