you can't own it forever if there is an expiration...my leaps Jan 2000 are a twenty bagger but what to do? Bought in March, I get no capital gains tax break, if I sell positions, I certainly do not hold forever, and if I exercise options, I shell out money. If I bought the stock in the first place, I would not have a premium to pay for the then out of the money call and could truly hold it forever. Admittedly, a nice problem to have.

If I feel the Q will do awesome after 2000 Jan (which I do) I should exercise and by doing so I get nothing from the twenty bagger and who know many baggers there will be in 5 months?

I think LEAP investing is a cheap way to own a stock that you will want to own forever, but only having to pay a portion of the cost until expiration approaches
