Hi Garrett! MKIE is one of the stocks I've been watching for awhile now. One of the places they're going is into the DAW (digital audio workstation) market. The D8b mixer is their flagship product in this market segment. It's really quite an amazing piece of equipment. For example, you can set any number of different volume levels for each of many channels, and record those positions into the mixer's memory. Then when you want to come back to that piece, you can recall the settings and miniature motors will automatically move the sliders back into the position you saved them in! This barely scratches the surface of this unit's potential!
Mackie appears to treat its employees with respect...this is important to me...a company is only as good as its people.
My two greatest concerns with Mackie at this early juncture are: 1) The integration of the Italian speaker and audio company RCF. I'm not familiar with RCF's products yet, but I do know that with RCF, Mackie has just bought a major and well established European distribution network. 2) Like another company you and I follow, you know, that computer maker down south, I see a less than adequate level of communication with the investment community on Mackie's part. I believe this could be having some level of effect on the company's stock price (Alisa, if you're reading this don't take it personally!(Alisa is a great person in the Mackie investor relations dept.))
Again, this is a company with tremendous potential. Many in the audio community have great respect for Greg Mackie and his contributions to the industry. They make products of excellent quality that are competitively priced.
I'll look forward to the results of your research.
Best regards, George Wave
P.S. Here is a site with a pretty thorough breakdown of audio technology. Very educational
