WESTFORT ENERGY LTD ("WT-T") - New Well Permit and Flow Results

Whitney Pansano, President of Westfort Energy, Ltd. announced that the company has secured a permit to reenter and recomplete the Love -E.W.Rhodes #2 well in Pelahatchie Field.

While long scheduled as a reentry candidate, the unplugged well recently began to pose an environmental hazard by leaking oil and gas at the surface and most recently forcing several joints of 2 7/8 tubing out of the well head and 30 ft into the air. Yesterday the company performed a hot tap on the well in order to relieve the pressure. The well flowed approximately 15 barrels of oil the first 10 minutes at 125 pounds per square inch, and then continued to flow another 16 barrels over the first hour. Pressure then subsided and the well was safely shut in for monitoring.

While available records concerning previous work on the well are sketchy, the company has determined that a prior operator attempted to reenter the well in June 1992. In doing so, a bridge was encountered at 5,652 ft. The unidentified fish was milled and washed over to 6,338 ft. at which time a grapple was lost in the hole and further efforts were abandoned, presumably because of cost.

The well was originally drilled to 11,375 feet in 1963. Mississippi State Oil and Gas Board records indicate that the only production attempted and obtained was from a Rodessa formation at 10,255-71 feet which produced 168,000 barrels of oil from 1963 to 1966 at a monthly average of 4,000 barrels per month. Westfort's geologist believes that there are at least four additional formations in the well which appear to be productive from log and core analysis that apparently were not tested.

Westfort's consulting engineers have designed a workover plan to clean out the hole and test several formations. Westfort owns the necessary rig and drilling equipment to make the economics of such an attempt both feasible and meritorious/ Work is being scheduled to start the week of the 26th of July.
