Sid,

After visiting Avista's web site and reading some of their news releases I agree with you that Plugpower won't find itself alone. Apparently there are going to be a number of players here.

However, as an investor I favor MKTY over AVA because the only way you can invest in AVA is to buy the parent holding company--which dillutes the impact of the fc profits to the bottom line.

In contrast the fc impact to the bottom line of MKTY will be tremendous---assuming it pans out---which will boost the stock.

Additionally, DTE revenues are 3 times larger (almost) (11 billion vs. 4 billion) than AVA's--which means to me that its customer base is larger so its potential market is larger. I don't think DTE and SEMPRAS will let any other utility invade its terriotry with another fc. They will compete on price even if they have to take on loss on the unit in order to sell the residential customer the fuel.

YOu seem convinced that MKTY will not be able to deliver a unit for $4000 , but I say two things about that. The consumer will buy it at a higher price (assuming the competition is not priced significantly lower), or that the utiltities will subsidize the price in order to get the technology established (and get the billings for the fuel).

I appreciate you drawing my attention to the competition in this area.

REgards,

Bill
