Paul, "The deployment of ADSL is currently limited and is dependent upon local carriers and phone companies to implement this service - so that people can BUY and USE ADSL modems. At the current time, this service is offered by only a few carriers - with specific restrictions such as being within a mile or two of a Central Switching office"

3 miles is the limit for US West I heard and for PacBell. I'm 3 miles from our CO and DSL works. 75% of one of the larger phone carriers is DSL capable. They're getting there. The growth in DSL is amazing.
