A.) The Democrats are not "so dang united". Bob Casey, the former governor of Pennsylvania, was pro- life, and the Blue Dogs remain a significant conservative bloc in the House Democratic caucus. What happens is that the Democrats get a lot of power, and then the various constituencies call in their debts;

Casey was a lone outsider in his party and said as much. And somehow those debts that are called in seem always to skewer things to the left, and Republicans are always left talking about dang tents and junk. Where is the Republican overt litmus test on anything? Dems have them everywhere. Trent Lott is a dang joke.

B.) Republicans cannot win without some moderates, and conservatives cannot win without some little "l" libertarians. That is politics;

And meanwhile Dems are getting names of potential donors from PBS and supporting leftist causes via public funds. Republicans? Tents.

C.) Johannes, you can stand for whatever you want. I did not bring it up.....

Even if you had brought it up, Neocon, I of course would still stand for what I want. So there is no dang relevance in any of this kinda crap. I “hold back” because Republicans are little more than Democrats who talk about tax cuts and who usually fail even here. In the rare instance a so-called tax cut is passed, it is usually but a sham-- folks letting Americans keep a few fractions of a percentage more of their money while sticking it to them elsewhere. So then having eliminated taxes I am left to wonder what is there that truly distinguishes Republicans from Democrats. It certainly ain't social issues, because while Dems are so well defined here and their policies are generally those under which we now find ourselves, Republicans are stuck in dang tents.

Sure, they influence things, but Dems overtly make their positions known on very many issues while Republicans are so dang mealy mouthed its sickening. Dems openly embrace abortion, even PBA. Republicans? Dang tents. Dems and Republicans both have come out against welfare. But it was a dang Dem administration that reformed welfare. Dems openly embrace homosexuals. Republicans? Dang tents. Dems openly accept affirmative action. Republicans? (ahem well we need to be more compassionate. In other words, tents.) Dems flatly stated that Clinton should stay in office and that Ken Starr was the real villain. The Republican House was the only Republican group that defended decency. The Republican Senate? Dang tents. The Dems virtually go for the jugular of the gun industry, and they do it openly. Republicans? They use tricks to maintain the status quo. As a party they hardly come out just as flatly as the Dems and state a position. The Republicans are nothing but Democrats stuck in a dang tent.

Hey, you brought up the PBS thing, I responded to it as I wanted as this is still a public forum. If you don't wanna respond to my response, then don't. I didn't submit it for your approval in the first dang place.
