Chaz, I see any handheld order taking unit being a transmittal device only. Each order is such a small amount of data. Not having to put memory(except perhaps a small cache) keeps the cost down and the units affordable. Again, my experience is in quick service but IMHO in a fine dining setting there are important nuances in each order that must be conveyed to satisfy the discriminating client. I'm sure there are some apps. for this but I can't think of any. Upthread Ellen posted the test with ERIC. I find that interesting. My reference to spreadsheets was that in managing multiple locations one would want to have access to data from all locations from any point of travel. Including access to reference manuals and such from a corporate HQ. I'm beginning to convince myself I gotta have one!<gg>
