Aus, As usual, an entertaining and informative series of posts. Thank you again.
<<As I mentioned many times earlier, even as CF begins to take off the biggest threat remains in-house. The diminuitive sibling of CompactFlash...the MultiMediaCard.
It is not Clik! or the Microdrive or The Memory Stick.
Why haven't people figured this out yet?>>
Well, "Clik!" = Iomega, "Microdrive" = IBM, and "Memory Stick" = Sony. Household names all, even Iomega thanks to their remarkable PR campaign for the Zip a few years and the remarkable run of the stock. Who's ever heard of Sandisk? Its not even a particularly catchy name (their old name, Sundisk, which they had to give up when they went public, was better, IMO). My best idea would be for them to hire you to do a PR campaign. You are a veritable fountain of PR ideas. Your earlier comment that you would consider buying any digital camera that uses CF is telling and, I think, not uncommon for shareholders (though let's not think too much about those Zip buyers who held onto their IOM stock too long; still, the Zip isn't the same kind of thing as flash memory is).
Thanks again for your notes and your thoughts. Always welcome to me. Best, Sam |
