You are right. I should have said that history can be taught to children as a series of stories, often good ones. Once they are interested in what people did, they may be tempted to ask why they did it, and delve into the side of history that you are discussing. But I think young people would be far more interested in history if it were initially presented as good stories that happen to be true.

Historical education has been rendered lethally boring by the assumption that historical literacy consists of memorizing an enormous sequence of events and dates.
