Hi jbe, It was written between 1967 and 1969 as I recall by a woman composer who won some contest with it...that's all I can remember.

If anyone knows how to find it and can point me in the right direction, I'd love to get a copy of the sheet music and a recording of it as well, if there is one.

It is an example -- a rare one IMHO -- in which the music says the same thing as the words say. It is beautiful and moving.

As soon as someone mentioned John Donne, it came to mind. I sang it in my head and remembered about 90% of the words...not bad for not really thinking about it for 30 years or so...
