<<Curious to know why you refer to gold as currency? Please give an example in ordinary, day to day, life where gold is used as a currency in 1999. >>

There are other places in Denver, but here you go.
During a recent trip to Boulder H.H. The Dalli Lama played the "when in Rome" thing and ate here(yes, I was shocked he had buffalo), and commented on the gold balance near the register. Sam(the owner) claimed people still pay for meals with gold dust or small nuggets. The restaurant was also part of the papal visit of 1993 to greater Denver & hosted a "state dinner" for the Summit of Eight" in Denver.

This award winning restaurant, located in Southwest Denver, is one of the nation's most recognized establishments and #1 in serving buffalo. The Fort and its owner, Sam Arnold (noted author, historian and entrepreneur), have been featured in local and national publications such as the New York Times, Sunset, Bon Appetit and Modern Maturity (for reviews of the Fort, click here). For some of the Fort's famous recipes, click here!

Good enough?
btw, do you think it chaped the butts of the Summit of Eight types to know this place still accepted gold as money?
