PW, Thanks for your suggestion. I did what you said, but the system still hung up when trying to exit and restart in DOS mode. I have done something to really screw it up, it appears. BTW, does it matter that I have several MSDOS shortcuts and I only changed one as you suggested, but not the others? First time I really screwed up Win 98, but I had several "episodes" when using Win 3.1 in the good ole days. Any other suggestion would surely be appreciated. Bill
