Ask away. I enjoy this stuff is why I do it. The ATI card is very mainstream and I'm sure it will work on your system as long as you have a spare PCI slot. Just take into consideration what you will need for ISDN if you get it or cable or whatever.

And just to make sure call Dell tech support.

And make sure that you order a PCI card, not an AGP.

If you are short on slots Matrox has the new G400 that will run two monitors from one slot. It's a barn-burner 3D state-of-the-art card so it's not cheap ($160). But it has the advantage that it will do dual monitors under NT if you ever wanted to go that way.

It's SUPER easy to shut off the second monitor. You just disable it with a check box in display properties and then turn it off. No need to even reboot.
