I envy you in some ways: I've had far too mobile a life to accumulate many books, and this country is not noted for the number or excellence of its bookstores. What's on my shelves is more a compendium of what I could get than of what I want. I grew up in a house where every wall was covered with books from floor to ceiling, and I confess to some slight nostalgia for that environment. It wouldn't be very practical, since the only place I ever have a chance to read undisturbed is on the crapper (a new book in the house occasionally causes odd bouts with constipation), but it would be nice to know they were there.
