NXC and All:
Intel formally announced their graphics chip today. This chip and
others they are working on are based on the Pentium II that gets
released in the second half of the year. These chips are also based around
the Intel AGP standard. Microsoft announced today that the OS that will
support the AGP will not be available until late Q4 97 or early Q1 98.
These chips have been described for use in high end systems and work-
stations, not S3's market yet. I'm sure that S3 will be moving up
into this market and Intel will someday cross into S3. But because
the announcement was late in the day I would not be suprised if
all the graphics companies get hit again. Nothing suprises me anymore
with this stock.

PS - Some upbeat news tolook forward to: According to my
sources S3 was on track to meet earnings of .30 - .31. This was
as of last week.
On 4-6 or 4-7 Compaq has some kind of show going and I think they
will be announcing there new deskpro line. S3 never had any of this
business before. S3 has the Presarrio business.
The rumor of Toshiba notebooks is still out there.
Chow.
