Back from Amazon.com - "Dead Souls," by Gogol, and "The Queen of Spades," by Pushkin, but I am still stumped on the duel story. Maybe it will gel eventually, things usually do, if I wait long enough, or at least I get clues and am able to find things by looking them up, although sometimes not. Sometimes when I am stumped I ask my husband to help me remember, and just describing what I am trying to remember will make it jump out.
