We shouldn't underestimate the influence on the Media that MS can bring to benefit their image & marketing. I just saw an Adam Smith program about MSFT on PBS ... the size of the MSFT 'Content' investment is awesome, including a paid employee pool drawn from some of the best magazine, TV, entertainment backgrounds ... they can put a positive spin on almost any situation that MSFT gets into, and they have the contacts to get the 'news' into many of the most popular programs & publications. Didn't Jay Leno do a recent announce show for MSFT a little while ago? Would he really 'bite the hand that feeds him'? I would like to see it happen, but won't hold my breath waiting. I'll bet that you will find at least some reporters that will believe the MSFT 'news release' about NT sales. Maybe it's the 'Big Lie' principle all over again ... I dunno how they do it, but at least some people believe stories like this one.
