IDG's InfoWorld First To Review Inprise's Delphi 5

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 1999--InfoWorld, the IT newsweekly that defines technology for business, announced it is the first publication to review Inprise's Delphi 5, Beta 3. Scheduled for release late this summer, InfoWorld Senior Analyst Maggie Biggs reports that Delphi 5 is an ideal tool to build and distribute Web and Windows applications.

This release of Delphi will help companies save money and reduce time spent during the development cycle. While Delphi has always had a productive environment, this version offers even more tools and features that will reduce or eliminate the need for developers' training due to their ease of use.

Some benefits of Delphi 5, Beta 3:

--Support for ActiveX Data Objects

--New tools to build thin clients that use Dynamic HTML and XML

--Data Module Designer views for simplifying data integration

--Localization features that aid world wide deployment

In a related story, InfoWorld examines Inprise's future amid buyout pressure. The company has undergone major changes within the past few years including market shifts, CEO changes and mergers and acquisitions. Now, the company is facing pressure from large systems vendors who would like to won parts of the company's tool division. Some believe the company will eventually succumb to a splitting off and a sale of its core units, despite management's goal to remain independent.
