Luis, Mar 24...News release is interesting. FONAR ANNOUNCES NEW PATENT FOR SIMULTANEOUS SCANNING OF MULTIPLE PATIENTS. ....It appears that this patent allows for the retrofit of existing MRI apparatus, as well as the quad systems. Also stated that FONAR believes that this technology will (or can) cut the cost of an MRI by as much as 50 %. That number maybe a bit to optimistic. Competition could heat up if this proves true. Also, I haven't been able to follow the thread closely over the last week, however from a quick look at the last few postings, I think that the cost of an MRI is probably drastically affected by a number of underlying features, such as complexity, and situation of the needed scan. You will note that the $150 price is for a single lumbar scan. It would be interesting to know what percentage of scans are ACTUALLY completed at the 150 price shown in the posting. I bet it's not many. They are quoting just one procedure in a multitude of different types of MRIs done every day..... Just a thought... M.
